June 18 2010: Storm's center Lauren Jackson (15) takes a shot attempt in the first half during a WNBA basketball game between the New York Liberty and the Seattle Storm at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Seattle Storm defeated New York Liberty 92-84.

With funds dwindling as the season winds down, the WNBA asked league MVP Lauren Jackson to throw in a few bucks if she wants to have her name engraved on the award.

"Lauren should have a personalized keepsake to commemorate this honor," said WNBA Senior Vice President of Player Recognition, Julia Payne. "We're just not able to spring for the entire cost of the engraving. Those guys charge by the letter and it adds up pretty quickly."

This year's MVP award is a revised bowling trophy, originally given to members of the 2002 men's league champions at Midwest Bowl in Topeka, Kansas.

"Someone got lucky and found that gem at a garage sale," said Payne. "We modified that baby so it looks like the person is dribbling a basketball and not bowling, took the '02' off and flipped the nameplate around. It almost looks brand new."

The league also announced they will be e-mailing Seattle Storm coach Brian Agler his coach of the year certificate so 'he can print it in color if he wants to.'
