While watching the Winter Olympic opening ceremonies which included the traditional parade of nations, your close friend since elementary school was convinced that Belarus isn't a real country. He can't believe that an event with security as tight as the Olympics would allow a fake country to take part in the opening ceremonies.

"This is unbelievable! There's no way Belarus is really a country," said your good friend who, not coincidentally, is unable to find his homestate on a map of the United States. "They let a fake country into the Olympics! Get in here guys, and look at this. Belarus sounds so made up, I can't believe they got past security with such an obviously fake name."

Your friend discovered additional "phony" countries throughout the night as the parade of nations progressed.

"What is going on with the Olympics?" said your friend. "Half of the countries aren't even real. I think I should start my own country so I can make it to the Olympics. Can't be too hard. Some guy came up with the name Belarus, brought a bunch of his friends and now look at them. Waving their fake flag and everything. I can't believe Iran has athletes either, when it's obviously a fictitious place created for movies and TV."
