Bridget Samuels/FlickrPatrick Sharp of the Chicago Blackhawks, having been selected MVP of the NHL All-Star Game for his 1 goal, 2 assist performance, was awarded a $50 cash prize by commissioner Gary Bettman as part of a postgame ceremony.
"For his outstanding play in today's game, I am pleased to present Patrick Sharp with this award," said the commissioner, removing some wadded up bills from his pocket and handing them to Sharp. "The NHL would like to acknowledge our sponsor, Shop.NHL.com, for the generous cash donation of $40, and also the individual that lost $10 in the parking lot, making this $50 award possible. Thank you."
Bettman and Sharp then posed for a quick photo op as the league's public relations director took a couple pictures with his cell phone.
