Yahoo and ESPN have 'way different' pre-draft fantasy football rankings, reports your friend, Dave, while he informs you of the time he has spent studying and participating in mocks the past few weeks in preparation for several fantasy drafts coming up this week.
"The difference in these rankings is unbelievable," your friend Dave tells you. "For example, Yahoo's got San Diego rookie Ryan Mathews eighth overall, but he's number twenty-five on ESPN. I was hoping to get him at number ten in two of my leagues, but now I'm not sure if he'd be a steal or if I'd be reaching to get him. I'm totally second guessing myself now."
Statistical projections are way off for some players too, says Dave, making it even tougher to formulate a solid fantasy football draft strategy.
"Is Brandon Jacobs going to score 5 touchdowns, or 9? He's probably not worth a third or fourth round pick unless he's getting goal line touches."
Dave added he could do a better job of ranking players correctly 'if he wasn't so busy with work and his kids and stuff.'
