Bill Belichick sent a strong message to his defense by going for it on 4th and 2 from his own 28 yard line, clearly insinuating they had no chance of stopping Peyton Manning and the Colts. He further rubbed it in to his defensive players that he has no use for them, when after the game, he left them stranded at the Indianapolis airport.

"Well, we were waiting to board so me and some of the guys went over to the airport [T.G.I.] Friday's to grab something to eat," said New England nosetackle Vince Wilfork. "But when we got back, all of the coaches and offensive players were gone. It was almost as if they ditched us on purpose."

Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo was not impressed by the move to say the least.

"I can't believe he would leave us here in Indy like that. It was incredibly demeaning having to rent a car and drive all the way back to Foxboro. Have you ever tried to fit five NFL players into a Honda Civic? Well, let's just say it wasn't a comfortable fourteen hour drive."

Despite the hardships, and now certain lack of confidence placed upon his defense, Belichick says he would make the same decision again.

"Yeah, I'd still ditch those bums at the airport. I might even leave them home for our next road trip. Obviously we don't need them to win football games. Why else to you think I'd go for it on 4th down on my own 28 yard line with a six point lead? If we are going to win, it is clearly up to our offense."
