Spearheaded by a number of head coaches from teams that failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament, a group is making a last second push to have the tournament expanded. The group hopes to expand the tournament to 96 teams by tomorrow, or maybe Thursday, but several coaches admit they'd be happy with any expansion as long as their school gets in.

"96 teams would be nice," said Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg, whose team finished 23-8 but wasn't selected for the tournament. "But if we couldn't get 96, I'd be happy with two, three, maybe even four more teams as long as Virginia Tech was one of them. Who are we kidding. I'm not pushing for expansion to help out Illinois or UAB."

Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury thinks tournament expansion could easily be completed in a day or two.

"How tough is it?" asked Stansbury. "So you call thirty-two schools, get four more arenas lined up, sell some tickets, re-do the bracket - piece of cake. I'll volunteer to do it at lunch. There are so many positives, I can't believe there is even an argument against it. There's more television money, more players can say they played in the Big Dance, and I can stop lying to my relatives when I tell them we made 'the tournament' this year, when I really mean the NIT. It just makes sense for everybody."
