Left out of the LeBron James sweepstakes, the New Jersey Nets will move onward with their ambitious 'Blueprint for Greatness' campaign. Some thought the Nets would be in the running for James due to his relationship with minority owner Jay-Z, but that was not the case.

"Yeah, we're friends," said Jay-Z, "but what kind of friend would I be if I convinced him to play for the New Jersey Nets?"

Majority owner Mikhail Prokorov says the team was pretty sure they weren't ever going to be able to include LeBron James in their future plans.

"Sure it would have been nice to sign LeBron," said the Russian billionaire, "but it's hard to shake the perception that we are an awful team. Probably because we are really, really bad. We did lose seventy games last year. I don't blame him for going to Miami. Even though it makes him look like a gutless frontrunner."

Despite missing out on the top free agents, Prokorov says they have several other plans to reach success.

"Fans need not worry. We didn't throw all of our eggs into one basket. Just today we went out and signed Travis Outlaw and my basketball people tell me he has played in the NBA before with mediocre results, so.....that's a step in the right direction. The good news is we can't get any worse. At least I hope we can't."
