The NBA released its full schedule on Tuesday and, spurred by the interest generated by the team's big three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, has decided to eliminate all games that don't involve the Miami Heat.
"This schedule will give basketball fans all across the world every chance to see the Miami Heat and their big three," said NBA Commissioner David Stern. "We've always been a league that has promoted its stars, and this schedule does little to change that. That's what the people in LeBron's camp told me. He's the league's biggest star, so not much I could do but give in."
Dwyane Wade says he looks forward to the challenge of playing the only game on the NBA schedule each and every night.
"All eyes will be on us, which is how it should be," said Wade. "We're the greatest trio in NBA history without ever playing a game together. I think the celebration after we signed our contracts made that very clear. We are awesome. I just hope Bosh doesn't get all self-conscious about his bugged out neck with the focused attention."
With a schedule consisting of 78 more games than any other team, the Heat are all but assured of having the league's best record.
"It's an easier path than any other team has ever had to the league's best record, but we have no objection to that," said LeBron James. "Pretty much, it's the exact reason the three of us got together. Taking the easy way out is the only way to go."
Stern says in addition to focusing on its biggest stars, one additional benefit of this schedule is that is spares anyone from having to watch the Nets or Timberwolves for 82 games.
