June 30, 2010: Starting pitcher Zack Greinke of the Kansas City Royals delivers a pitch during a game against the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Royals won 7-6.

Following yet another close loss, this time 1-0 to Tampa Bay, Kansas City hitters are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of run support they are receiving from staff ace Zack Greinke. The team feels Greinke is relying too heavily on hitters to score runs, rather than taking things into his own hands.

"Hey, great, his ERA is 2.27 and his WHIP is 0.93," said rightfielder David DeJesus. "but how many runs has he scored? How many RBIs does he have? Zero. Nada. Zip. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd be a lot more inclined to score some runs if he would get off his butt and try to contribute. Sure, he wouldn't get many RBIs since no one ever gets on base, but at least he'd be out there. We are. Sort of."

Added catcher Jason Kendall, "I'll admit it would be hard for him to drive in a bunch of runs and pile up huge offensive stats playing only once every five days, but he doesn't have a single extra base hit. Maybe that's a bad example since most of our hitters don't have any extra base hits either. Still ....you see where I'm going."

Manager Trey Hillman agrees Greinke should start contributing on offense too.

"Dominant pitching is nice, but we want the total package." said Hillman. "If Zack is unable to hit and drive in some runs, he's kind of a useless player at this point. We've got way too many guys like that already."
