Benjamin Cave/FlickrA diehard AFC fan since the Mark Gastineau-led victory in 1985, Joel Bender of Little Arrow, Colorado was devastated following the NFC's 55-41 triumph in the Pro Bowl.
"There's really no way to describe how I feel," said Bender, sorrowfully shaking his head as he stared at his television - which had been turned off for hours. "I just invested so much into this one game. Good thing the AFC doesn't play again for another year. It might take me that long to bounce back.......emotionally."
After last year's 41-34 win, Bender was hopeful the AFC could ride the momentum into 2011, especially since "we were totally loaded after revamping the roster."
"But I guess if you aren't motivated or prepared, it doesn't matter how stacked your team is. You're going to get beat. We couldn't match the NFC's intensity tonight. They really played with a chip on their shoulder."
Bender says he "just knows" his one co-worker that's an NFC fan will really rub this one in.
