The Denver Broncos and head coach John Fox—not wanting the quarterback controversy to carry on any longer—have brought an end to a situation that could have divided the locker room by announcing that Brady Quinn will begin the season as the team's undisputed 3rd string quarterback.
"It was unfair to let Brady, Tim (Tebow), Kyle (Orton) or anyone else on this team twist in the wind for the entire training camp because we continued to put off our final decision," said Fox, confident he's seen enough in the first week of practice from Quinn to know he's found the best guy to hold down 3rd string. "When it comes to reading the defense, calling the correct audible or making successful throws, Brady's definitely 3rd string material. He's already risen to the top. Or is it fallen to the bottom? Whatever. Having Brady Quinn as the backup to the backup quarterback gives us the best chance to win right now."
Fox said Quinn's years of NFL experience standing on the sideline "definitely" played into his decision, and thinks the five-year veteran will have no objection to tutoring rookie Adam Weber, hailed by many as Denver's 3rd string quarterback of the future.
