Doug Wallick/FlickrAfter missing out on the top spot yet again despite the league's worst record, the Minnesota Timberwolves have assured their fan base that they will come back as bad as ever next season or for as many seasons as it takes, determined to finally land the #1 pick in the NBA Draft.
"We owe it to our loyal fans who, for years, have endured some terrible luck in the NBA Draft Lottery," said Minnesota GM David Kahn, claiming he will do everything in his power to assure the Timberwolves have the same 25-percent chance of getting the top pick next year. "We'll make questionable trades, sign sketchy free agents—whatever it takes. I promise that if they just stick with us, next May fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves will be celebrating in the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul when we finally secure that elusive NBA Draft Lottery victory."
Kahn backed off his guarantee when a member of his staff reminded him the Timberwolves 2012 first-round pick is owned by the Clippers as a result of a trade for Marko Juric 5 seasons ago.
"That's definitely a setback, as I'd like to see us land the top pick as much as anyone, but if fans can just be patient, not having a first-rounder in 2012 will help us lay the foundation to remain high in the draft lottery for years to come."
