Keith Allison/FlickrFalling short in their quest for a title in this year's Finals, the Miami Heat have decided to end their relationship with the Big Three and have agreed to ship LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for the 1989 NBA Championship Larry O'Brien Trophy.
"We brought [the Big Three] together in hopes of bringing this trophy back to Miami, and here it is!" exclaimed Heat president Pat Riley, holding up the sterling silver prize with 24 karat gold overlay to the throngs of fans that packed AmericanAirlines Arena to celebrate the trophy's arrival. "To those diehard fans, fans that jumped on the Heat bandwagon during the middle of the season, and those that will cheer whatever is popular at the time, this is for you!"
LeBron James said in a statement that he is "one-hundred-percent confident" the trade will bring an end to the criticism of his inability to produce a championship trophy.
