Media Questions UConn Women's Decision To Keep Winning

The media has questioned the decision by the UConn women's basketball team and its head coach Geno Auriemma to keep winning. By earning yet another national championship, UConn has extended its NCAA record winning streak to 78 games, but according to the media they are killing the game of basketball, and it would be best if they weren't so concerned with winning all the time.

"Seriously, lose a game once in a while," said Jerome O'Shey of The Sporting News. "Team sports are not about winning all the time. Well, they are, but no one wants to see the same team win every game. I guess if it's your favorite team, then you probably want to see them win, but, well, you know what I mean."

Mike Barber of the USA Today says the UConn women are sending a terrible message to young American athletes by dominating their opponents.

"What does that show young kids just starting to play basketball or team sports in general? It shows them the best team with the best players probably has the best chance of winning. That's certainly not the type of sports world I want to be a part of."

Added Steve Howser of Sports Illustrated, "UConn should just drop a couple on purpose. I'm not talking point shaving, because that would be illegal. All they'd have to do is miss some shots they wouldn't normally miss and intentionally turn the ball over maybe ten to twenty more times. That's all."

Media members also agree that in the process of dropping a couple games here and there, it would be really cool if the UConn women could work in some alley-oop dunks or something.
