RMTip21/FlickrOn the last night of the regular season, the Charlotte Bobcats wiped out what most viewed as an insurmountable 4-game deficit to secure the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference when the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers announced they had insufficient funds to continue operations into the NBA playoffs.
"I'm proud of our team, we worked hard and stuck together," said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, thankful team ownership carried out their goal of making enough money to keep the team afloat. "I always knew we were good enough to make the playoffs if we bought into our system, and a couple teams ahead of us in the standings ceased operations, ran out of money, or were contracted by the NBA."
Silas says the Bobcats are primed for a deep playoff run if Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Miami and Atlanta succumb to a rash of ACL tears, family emergencies and salmonella poisonings.
