Honda_Centerjondoeforty1/FlickrFollowing reports that the Sacramento Kings are taking the necessary steps to relocate their franchise, reportedly with an eye on southern California, Anaheim's local government, spurred by public pressure, quickly passed a resolution to demolish the Honda Center to prevent such a move to their city.

"I vow to the citizens throughout the metro area, we will do all we can to keep the Sacramento Kings from moving to Anaheim, California," said city councilman Bruce Plansby, standing in a pile of Honda Center rubble holding up a petition signed by thousands that urged the city to stop a Sacramento Kings move in any way possible. "We have heard you loud and clear. You've said you want nothing to do with the Sacramento Kings and frankly neither do we."

Reducing the 18,000 seat Honda Center to debris assures that Anaheim has no way of taking in the worst team in the NBA's Western Conference, but also leaves the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL without an arena.

"You weigh the pros and cons of any decision," said Plansby, "and the negatives of the Kings becoming the Anaheim Royals of Orange County outweigh the negatives of the Ducks playing every game on the road while providing zero economic impact to our city. We can't attract top-notch entertainment or other events either, but I say it's completely worth it to keep the Kings elsewhere."

Construction crews in Kansas City, St. Louis, San Diego and Albuquerque are working frantically to decimate any possible venue the Kings may now be considering.
