The Nets, Pistons and Nuggets were finally able to complete a blockbuster trade involving All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony, which sent him to New Jersey, Detroit, and then back to Denver.
"At first glance, this looks like a great deal for the Nuggets, as they landed the marquee player included in this deal," said ESPN's Tim Legler. "They gave up a lot to get Carmelo Anthony, with a package that included players and future draft picks, but when you have the opportunity to snag a guy of that caliber, you just have to go for it."
The Nuggets surrendered two first-round picks, forward Al Harrington and point guard Chauncey Billups in exchange for Anthony, the team's lone acquisition in the trade, but are very pleased with the final outcome.
"We knew exactly what we were getting in this deal," said Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri, "considering Carmelo has played here for practically his entire eight-year career. Except for half an hour in Detroit, and forty-five minutes or so in New Jersey."
Ujiri is confident Carmelo Anthony will fill the void created when the Nuggets traded away Carmelo Anthony.
