Robert Scales/FlickrRandomly beating up supporters of visiting ballclubs has become quite the challenge for home fans in Major League Baseball due to an increased presence of security and uniformed police at stadiums across the country.
"It's a total buzzkill when I can't pop a guy for wearing a Giants or Padres hat because a police officer is standing right next to the concession stand," said diehard Dodgers fan E.J. Ilton, 26, of Onawa Hills, California, claiming he's punched, kicked or bitten a fan of every other National League team. "Since I can't knock anybody around anymore, it's like I get blind drunk for nothing."
Ilton has looked into alternative options, such as sports bars and minor league games, but nothing equals the experience of assaulting an opposing fan at a Major League stadium.
"Causing physical harm to a Colorado Rockies fan at some sports bar doesn't have the same feel as the Chavez Ravine parking lot after a Dodger victory," said Ilton. "I've tried to simulate it, but you just can't match the sights and sounds of a big league ballpark. The aura of being in a stadium concourse and breaking some dude's ribs during the 7th inning stretch is something everyone should be able to experience."
