What difference a week can make. It's the nature of the Major League Baseball season to ride the roller-coaster from week to week and series to series. The three I-94 teams know this all too well. Let's "Travel the I."

Brewers

From a 36-1 drubbing of the Pirates over three games from Tuesday to Thursday to a weekend disaster against the Cubs, at Miller Park, the Brewers reached the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in a matter of six days. A 20 run game on Thursday should have given the Brewers all the momentum they would need to take on their I-94 rivals; instead the Brewers struggled to get men on base over the weekend and were outscored 25-4.

Who's Hot - It's hard to pick a player that's hot coming off the series the Brewers just had, but Ryan Braun was un-pitchable in Pittsburgh. Braun was 7-for-11 with two homers and right RBI in those three games. Jim Edmonds is seven for his last 20 with a home run. In limited time, Craig Counsell is batting .556 in the last seven days.

Yovani Gallardo and Doug Davis each gave the Brewers solid starts this week and Manny Parra and Carlos Villanueva combined for seven innings of scoreless relief.

Who's Not - Prince Fielder continued his slow start, batting just .238 over the last six days and Casey McGehee went 4-for-20 in five games and Greg Zaun (now hitting .157) batted just .188 in four games.

Suppan was hit hard again, prompting his move to the bullpen, but he Brewers finished the week with an ERA of 3.83, the Cubs series off-setting the Pirates series.

Milwaukee entered the Cubs series one game above .500 and in second place, they finished two games under and in fourth. The Brewers should be able to put the Cubs series behind them rather quickly with the Pirates coming to town for three games and then it's off to San Diego to face one of baseball's hottest teams.

White Sox

The White Sox lose two of three to Tampa Bay, then walk-off with wins the next two nights and win another in their final at bat in the third game. It appears that the Sox are relying heavily on the long ball, and while I don't see any problem with that, some do. In my opinion this team is built to play long ball, whether they like it or not. Unitl Juan Pierre, Gordon Beckham, AJ, and Alexei start hitting, they will have to rely on home runs, and against the Mariners, it worked just fine.

Who's Hot - Paul Konerko leads all of baseball with eight home runs, hitting four this week while batting .450 and driving in six. Andruw Jones also went deep three times this week including a walk off, one of two homers on his 33rd birthday.

John Danks allowed just three earned runs in 16 innings pitched in two wins this week. He struck out 14 and walked only two. Sergio Santos continued his scoreless streak with three more innings of solid relief.

Who's Not - Carlos Quentin and A.J. Pierzynski combined for two hits in 36 ABs this week. Beckham and Alexei Ramirez combined for just six hits in 39 ABs.

Jake Peavy continued to struggle, his ERA now at 7.66 following a four inning stint against the Rays. Gavin Floyd's slow start also continued as he surrendered five runs in 6.1 innings Friday against the Mariners.

Despite the sweep the Sox find themselves five games behind the division leading Minnesota Twins and they have a tough road trip ahead of them with three in Texas and three more in New York.

Cubs

The Cubs dropped two of three to one-win Houston at home, and then three of four to the struggling Mets before taking all three from the Brewers. Who knows what will happen when the Nationals and Diamondbacks come to town. The story line is the same for the Cubs as it was opening week, solid starting pitching, and until this past weekend a very quiet and inconsistent offense. Oh and lets not forget about that nightmare of a bullpen, of which Carlos Zambrano is now a member.

Who's Hot - The Cubs over the last seven days are hitting .300 as a team with Marlon Byrd at .500, Ryan Theriot at .500, Geo Soto at .467, Tyler Colvin at .438 and Kosuke Fukudome at .400. Soto has a .636 OBP over the last seven days.

Randy Wells gave up just three earned runs in 13 innings of work this week. Carlos Silva actually saw his ERA go up with an earned run in New York, it's now at 0.95.

Who's Not - Derrek Lee hit just .148 this week and Aramis Ramirez continued to slump, batting just .080. Ramirez has now struck out 23 times on the season.

All in all the Cubs pitching was pretty solid this week. John Grabow gave up two more runs in New York and Sean Marshall was touched up as well, but the Cubs finished the week with an ERA of 2.70 as a team.
